The Veterans Legal Corps, a program administered through a partnership between Equal Justice Works and AmeriCorps, is seeking law student interns to assist veterans in securing stable income, housing, and healthcare.
The Legal Aid Society is proud to host an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow as part of the Veterans Legal Corps and is seeking two students to assist the Fellow in providing these civil legal services to veterans. The student may receive a $1,175 education award as part of their internship.
The law student intern can expect to conduct legal research, perform client intake, manage volunteer lawyer referrals, conduct outreach, and prepare motions and pleadings. The intern will also be expected to organize legal clinics and similar projects. The intern should have completed their first year of law school, show good organizational skills, be comfortable conducting outreach with legal professionals and low-income clients. The intern will be required to perform at least 300 hours of service to complete their internship.
